In the earlier slot (at 18:45), two matches were on the programme.
Cyprus's Pafos, featuring our national team player Ivan Šunjić, caused an upset by defeating Spain's Villarreal 1-0. The only goal was scored by Luckassen in the 46th minute.
In the other match, played in Baku, hosts Qarabag and Chelsea drew 2-2.
Chelsea took the lead in the 16th minute with a goal from Estevao, but the hosts managed to turn the score around by the end of the first half.
Andrade equalised in the 29th minute, and just ten minutes later, Janković scored from the penalty spot to give Qarabag the lead, so the teams went into the break with a 2-1 scoreline.
Garnacho brought Chelsea level at 2-2 in the 53rd minute, which ultimately proved to be the final result.
At 21:00, seven matches were scheduled. The most goals were seen in the clash between Belgium's Brugge and Barcelona, which ended 3-3.
The home team took the lead three times. In stoppage time, Brugge scored a fourth goal, but referee Taylor rightfully disallowed it due to a foul on Barcelona's goalkeeper.
Italy's Inter defeated Kairat 2-1 at home. Galatasaray and Bayer Leverkusen provided slight surprises with away wins. The Turks beat Ajax 3-0, while the Pharmacists defeated Benfica 1-0.
Atalanta visited Marseille, and the match was decided in the very closing stages after drama. The goal for the Italian side was scored by Lazar Samardžić in injury time.
Two English representatives, Manchester City and Newcastle United, recorded comfortable home wins. City, led by Phil Foden and Erling Haaland, were better than Borussia Dortmund with a 4-1 scoreline, while the Magpies outplayed Athletic Bilbao 2-0.
