(Patria) - Basketball Club Igokea defeated host Bosna tonight in overtime in Sarajevo's Zetra in the BiH derby of the seventh round of the ABA League Top 8 phase. The final score was 86:89.
The guests opened the match much better and concluded the first quarter with a 14:24 lead.
Igokea managed to achieve a 15-point lead in the continuation (14:29), but Bosna played more aggressive defense afterwards, which paid off.
The persistent Students managed to equalize at 42:42 by the end of the first half.
Igokea had a slight lead in the next period, while Bosna kept pace and stayed close in score.
The final minutes of the match served up drama. With a three-pointer by Plummer, a minute and a half before the end, Bosna equalized at 74:74, and then took the lead with a layup by Atić for 76:74.
After that, Rorie was fouled on Igokea's last possession while shooting a three-pointer. However, he only made two free throws (76:76).
Bosna then lost the ball on their last possession, and the game went into overtime.
Igokea showed stronger nerves in the finish and ultimately achieved a 86:89 victory. Atić could have sent the game into another overtime, but he was not accurate on his three-point shot.
The winning team was led by BiH national player Aleksandar Lazić with 22 points, while Michael Young was the most effective for Bosna (19).
Igokea and Bosna now have an identical record (10-13) and the decision on which of the two BiH clubs will win seventh place and have home-court advantage in the play-in will be made in the last round.
Bosna is certainly closer to that, as they won the first match by seven points.
