Bosna records first win in ABA League Top 8 phase in Laktaši

(Patria) - Sarajevo's Bosna basketball players recorded their first victory in the ABA League Top 8 phase tonight, after defeating Igokea 73:66 as guests in Laktaši in the third round.

The Sarajevo team thus broke a streak of three consecutive losses and at the same time escaped the very bottom of the standings in this phase of the competition, leaving Igokea behind them, writes arenasport.

The key to the match was the excellent final quarter by the Students, in which they managed to create a decisive difference and turn the game in their favor.

The start of the game was efficient, so after less than two minutes of play, the score was 7:7, but a drop in offense soon followed for both teams.

A period with many turnovers on both sides followed, so the game was tied in score until the end of the first half.

The first quarter ended with a score of 17:17, while Igokea went into halftime with a 34:31 lead, although the hosts lost as many as 15 balls in the first 20 minutes.

Bosna had major problems with field goal shooting in that part of the game (8/28), which allowed Igokea, despite numerous turnovers, to maintain their lead until halftime.

The Students opened the second half better, but Igokea quickly responded with a run, and in the middle of the third quarter, the score was tied (45:45). The last ten minutes began with a score of 48:48.

Bosna started the finale more decisively and took a 55:51 lead at the beginning of the fourth quarter.

Although they did not immediately manage to increase the lead further, in the middle of the last period, a run followed which gave them an eight-point advantage and brought them closer to victory.

Igokea did not find an answer in the finale, so the Students deservedly celebrated in the end.

Bosna was led to victory by Joesaar with 20 points, nine rebounds, and two assists, and Plumer with 18 points, one rebound, and three assists. On the other hand, Gavrilović had 17 points for Igokea.

With this victory, Bosna strengthened its seventh position in the standings with a 9-10 record, while Igokea is now last with a 8-11 record.

The Sarajevo team is now trying to catch up with sixth-placed Cluj, which has a 10-7 record.
