(Patria) - Sarajevo's Bosna basketball players defeated Cedevita Junior in Zagreb tonight with a score of 86:79 in the fifth round of the second phase of the FIBA Europe Cup.
The Students led for most of the match, but allowed the home team to threaten in the final quarter.
Bosna won the first quarter 24:15, and at halftime the score was 39:31 for the Students.
Muhamed Pašalić's players entered the last quarter of the game with a seven-point lead (66:59).
With less than seven minutes left, the scoreboard showed 71:69 for the visitors.
Cedevita even came within one point (75:74) with five minutes left. Atić then played two good defensive plays, and Plummer hit a three-pointer for 80:74.
By the end, the Sarajevo team managed to maintain their lead and deservedly celebrated with an 86:79 victory.
Alfonso Plummer was the most effective player for Bosna with 16 points. Joesaar and Atić scored 15 each, and Šalić had 10.
Italian Reggiana and Bosna from Group L have already secured a quarter-final spot. Good news for the Students is that Reggiana lost tonight away to Romania's Oradea 81:77.
If the Italians lose in Sarajevo's Zetra next Wednesday, February 11th, Bosna will be first in the group.
A win against Reggiana would put the Students in the leading position, which brings two privileges - home-court advantage in the quarter-final second leg and a theoretically easier opponent, as they would play against the second-placed team from another group.
