Borac is the new champion of Bosnia and Herzegovina: Three points at Koševo for an insurmountable lead

(Patria) - In the derby of the 32nd round of the WWin League of BiH, Borac defeated Sarajevo 1-0 at the Asim Ferhatović Hase stadium, meaning Banjaluka has a 13-point lead over second-placed Zrinjski with four rounds left and are officially the new champions of Bosnia and Herzegovina as of tonight.

The guests from Banja Luka started the match much better and threatened early through Hreljo and Pascual, but their attempts went wide.

Sarajevo's first serious threat came in the middle of the first half when Elezi shot powerfully from distance, but the ball went just wide of the post.

The key moment of the first half occurred in the 32nd minute when referee Tomić pointed to the penalty spot after Ignatkov fouled Savić. Juričić was the confident penalty taker, putting Borac ahead 0-1, which turned out to be the halftime score.

Until the break, there were a few more attempts from both sides, but without any change in the score, with a lot of tension on the field culminating in yellow cards for Hiroš and Elezi.

In the second half, Sarajevo played more concretely. Kuprešak had a good chance at the start of the second half, but goalkeeper Jurkas was alert.

On the other hand, Borac could have doubled their lead in the 60th minute when Ogrinec hit the post.

The turning point of the match came in the 70th minute when Joao Carlos received a direct red card for elbowing Pascual, which was confirmed after a VAR check. Sarajevo was left with one less player in the final part of the match.

Chances were seen on both sides until the end of the match – Mujkić tried for the home team, while Deket threatened for the visitors, but the score remained unchanged.

At the end of the match, which means Borac is mathematically the champion of Bosnia and Herzegovina with four rounds to spare, reports Sportsport.ba
