Bišćević Tokić: Is Nikšić's Government's Decision on January 2nd in the Official Gazette?

(Patria) - The decision of the FBiH Government establishing the obligation for retail outlets to operate on January 2nd, which is a non-working day, with the alleged goal of "timely supply of the population and preservation of continuity of goods supply," is just another confirmation of incompetence, ignorance, but also arrogance and a false fight for the dignity of workers and workers' rights.



This was stated today by MP in the FBiH Parliament Jasmina Bišćević Tokić (SDA), who believes that the Government, although it had the opportunity and obligation according to the Law on Internal Trade to make such a decision much earlier, has once again shown that it is lost in space and time.

This decision, Bišćević Tokić points out, is proof of a complete lack of responsibility because it harms everyone - both workers and employers.

"Retail workers have been under pressure for weeks. They work overtime, they are exhausted, customer nervousness is broken over their backs, and then, at a time when many have already planned their holidays or even left the country, they find out that January 2nd is not a non-working day after all and that they have to work.

This is proof of the ultimate disrespect for workers, whose rights are threatened by the very same people who, under the guise of protecting workers' rights, made the decision on a non-working Sunday which least benefits workers, and most benefits certain interest lobbies and the other Bosnian-Herzegovinian entity," Bišćević Tokić stated in a social media post.



With the latest sudden decision, the federal MP continues, employers are also harmed, and these are the same employers whom the authorities regularly accuse of unpreparedness and irresponsibility. The question arises - how to organize the work of shopping centers for a single day when that day has been a non-working day for years?

"How to ensure shifts, security, logistics, and goods, if employees are already traveling or out of the country? The Government's decision is not economic policy but a blatant example of improvisation.

The key question remains unanswered: why wasn't the decision made earlier? If January 2nd was so important for supply, why wasn't it planned in September or October?



The answer is simple: it wasn't planned at all. As many times before, the reaction was panicked and chaotic. A particular question is that the decision of the FBiH Government cannot bind anyone, including traders, until it is published in the Official Gazette of FBiH. However, the Government has already shown that the rule of law means nothing to it," Bišćević Tokić concluded in her post.
