(Patria) - The Management Board of the Basketball Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina today made a decision to appoint Dario Gjergja as the coach of the men's national team of BiH, where he will succeed Adis Bećiragić.
The expert, born on August 21, 1975, in Zadar, began his career as an assistant at KK Zagreb, briefly worked in the coaching staff of Cibona, and then went abroad, specifically to Russian Perm.
Gjergja moved to Belgium in 2008. He managed Charleroi and Liege, and achieved excellent results in Oostende, with whom he won as many as 14 Belgian championship titles. He is currently the coach of French Limoges.
He also coached the Belgian national team in two European championships. At the last Eurobasket, as the coach of Belgium, he recorded victories against Iceland and Poland.
This month, as the coach of BiH, he is expected to play World Cup qualifying matches against Turkey on November 27 and three days later against Serbia. He will soon announce the list of players he is counting on for these matches.
