(Patria) - The women's tennis team of Bosnia and Herzegovina was defeated today by the Moroccan team with an overall score of 2:1, definitively confirming their relegation to the Third Group of the Euro-African zone next season.
After the singles matches ended in a tie, the decision on survival fell to the doubles match.
Unfortunately, the BiH duo Ema Burgić and Tea Kovačević could not find a solution against the inspired Moroccan players Yasmine Kabbaj and Diae El Jardi, who convincingly won 6:2, 6:2.
Our tennis players, led by coach Ismar Gorčić, put in a great effort throughout the week in Banja Luka, but the crucial points in key moments went to the opponents.
Although this defeat resulted in relegation to a lower tier, the performances of our tennis players, especially the emerging young talent, showed that BiH women's tennis has potential.
Coach Gorčić and the team now face a period of analysis and preparation for the next season, where the primary goal will be to return to the Second Group of the Euro-African zone.
"We thank the audience in Banja Luka who supported our team throughout these days, providing encouragement in moments of celebration as well as in these difficult sporting moments," stated the Tennis Federation of BiH.
