No agreement between Belgrade and Pristina in Brussels

(Patria) - The dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, regarding the decision to ban the use of the dinar in Kosovo, ended without an agreement, reports N1 correspondent.

The meeting between the two sides began this morning around 9 AM in Brussels with a bilateral meeting between the Director of the Office for Kosovo, Petar Petković, and the EU Special Envoy for Dialogue, Miroslav Lajčák. A trilateral meeting was held afterwards.

A joint meeting of the two sides was expected, especially after Lajčák's optimistic announcement that he was organizing the meeting with the intention of reaching an agreement.

The Pristina side was led by its chief negotiator, Besnik Bisljimi.

This is the fourth time in just over a month that talks between Belgrade and Pristina, mediated by the EU, have been held in Brussels regarding the ban on the use of the dinar in Kosovo.

On March 25, Lajčák announced that the chief negotiators of Belgrade and Pristina in Brussels had presented their proposals regarding the regulation of the Central Bank of Kosovo on the ban of the use of the dinar in Kosovo and that the talks had helped to "clarify important details".

The Director of the Office for Kosovo, Petar Petković, said after the meeting on March 25 in Brussels that Pristina lacks the political will to reach a solution for the use of the dinar in Kosovo.

Serbia is seeking to re-enable the use of the dinar in Kosovo and the operation of the Postanska stedionica bank, so that, as it states, about 90,000 Serbs from Kosovo can receive money from Serbia.

Pristina does not agree to this, but offers the possibility for banks to convert dinars to euros among themselves and offer them to Serbs in Kosovo.
