Bećiragić: We must reduce mistakes to a minimum, I call on fans to be even louder – they are our support

(Patria) - The Bosnia and Herzegovina basketball team began its campaign at this year's Eurobasket with a triumph over Cyprus.

After the match, selector Adis Bećiragić addressed the media.

"It was a match with two faces for us. The championship is very tough, and anyone can beat anyone. We must reduce the mistakes we saw today to a minimum," said the selector.

John Roberson also addressed the media.

"I'm glad to be here and represent Bosnia and Herzegovina. I am grateful to the selector for showing me trust. This was a very difficult game for me, but the coach and the guys believed in me. I gave my all, my shot wasn't falling until the end, but I'm glad we won. We played great, very fast, and that is our identity. We need to take better care of the ball," said John Roberson.

Roberson was asked how well he managed to adapt to the team.

"The second half was very important for me. I'm glad I managed to rise after a poor first quarter. I am very happy about the victory."

Bećiragić then commented on the upcoming match against Spain, which we play on August 30.

"We will play a zone press, a 1-3-1 zone across the entire court," the selector said jokingly, before turning serious:

"We have two things. The way we play and the way we should play. We'll see what we choose. People in Bosnia and Herzegovina are not aware of how good the Georgians are. Many acted smart and said we would beat them easily. They have two great NBA players, a great EuroLeague player, and an American. Tonight we showed that you cannot play without concentration and without defense. We'll see against Spain what will happen. With such dips, it won't be good against them, and I hope that won't happen," the selector emphasized.

He especially thanked the fans, who were the sixth player tonight.

"We have quite a few of those 'ups' and 'downs.' I would like to thank all the people who came here. I would ask them to be much louder because we need them. The players feel good when they know the arena is full. That is not pressure for us. It is great support. I would like to thank them once again," added Bećiragić.
