Baždar confirms he will play for the Dragons

(Patria) - Samed Baždar confirmed to media from Serbia that he will play for Bosnia and Herzegovina in the future.

The twenty-year-old and former Partizan player, now at Zaragoza, made an appearance for the Serbian national team in a friendly match against Cyprus, after which he did not receive any further call-ups. He played for all the junior national teams of the neighboring country.

“I don’t want to go into too much detail, I made the decision after long consideration and talks with my family. I have never been afraid of competition, that’s how I was raised from a young age, my decision is purely sport-motivated. People from the Football Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina contacted me recently, presented their plan, and were extremely fair and patient for me to make that decision myself, without pressure, and to inform them,” Baždar stated for Telegraf.

The footballer emphasized that on one side of his family tree he has roots from Bosnia and Herzegovina, and pointed out that he thinks very highly of Serbia, where he was born, grew up, and developed as a player.

“In addition, my roots are also from Bosnia and Herzegovina on one side of the family tree, and there are no obstacles there. To be clear, I think very highly of Serbia, I was born there, grew up there, developed as a player at Partizan, and I am grateful for the call-ups I received to the national team where I was always well received. However, I don’t want to be a burden to anyone, nor burden myself with thoughts about whether I will be called up or not, whether someone noticed me. I am a professional, and the decision to accept the invitation from the Football Federation of BiH was motivated by that, without difficult or bad thoughts or motives about the overall situation.
