(Patria) - FK Željezničar goalkeeper Vedad Muftić (23) will join the BiH national football team.
The plan is for Muftić to replace the injured Martin Zlomislić from Rijeka. Official confirmation is expected today, when Sergej Barbarez also addresses the public at a press conference at 2 PM in Sarajevo.
Muftić has played 34 matches for Željezničar this season. He had 11 clean sheets and averaged 2.4 saves per game.
Muftić is a 1.86 m tall goalkeeper who has played his entire career for Željezničar, from the youth selections to the present day. He was born in Sarajevo on October 25, 2001.
Barbarez had initially called up three goalkeepers – Nikola Vasilj, Osman Hadžikić, and Martin Zlomislić.
Barbarez had previously tried to find justifications for calling up Hadžikić and not calling up one of the best goalkeepers in the WWin league of BiH, Vedad Muftić.
