Barbarez disappointed with performance: Lacked masculinity, it's a privilege to have Džeko

(Patria) - Coach Sergej Barbarez did not hide his disappointment after today's match against San Marino, in which the Dragons completely underperformed. We secured the victory solely through the efforts of Edin Džeko, who entered the game in the second half.

"It will take me a couple of nights to get over this, to gather strength to analyze it. I apologize to all the people and fans. Maybe the standings put a smile on my face, but that's not it. We lacked play with the ball, and play without the ball was even worse. We had over 10 situations where a single pass could have led to a goal. Some chances were not used in time, better teams would have punished that. It's useless to shout from the sidelines if they themselves don't recognize that they have to pick up players... I was angry and loud at halftime, I said I can forgive everything, but if there is no masculinity and guts, if we don't enjoy the game, that hurts me in the end. There is work and effort ahead, we have more quality than shown today," said Barbarez.

Speaking about Edin Džeko, he said that he is an example of what it means to have experience. He pointed out that Džeko received an injection at halftime and that entering the game was his wish.

"We lack experience. It's a privilege to have such a man by your side," said Barbarez.

The Dragons play their next match on June 10 against Slovenia, and the coach has already announced that four players will not play, including Džeko.
