Barbarez on Wales: We have a plan and believe in advancing

(Patria) - The Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team is approaching the match against Wales in the playoffs for the 2026 World Cup with good spirits.

The Dragons' coach, Sergej Barbarez, says the team arrived at their destination without problems and that everyone in the team is eager to get on the field.

- The journey went well, we had a training session this morning, everyone in the hotel is healthy and ready. We are looking forward to these matches, this is why we became footballers and coaches. We are enjoying the atmosphere and opponents like this - said Barbarez.

He also touched upon previous challenges, emphasizing that the team has learned important lessons.

- We cannot compare this match with Austria, but we have learned lessons. We faced a team of higher quality, although we believed we could win. That experience is important for our progress - said Barbarez.

He adds that his team knows what it wants and believes in a positive outcome.



- We have our plan and idea, and we believe in them. This match could go into extra time or penalties, but we came with optimism that we can advance - Barbarez says.

He believes that possession of the ball will not be the key factor.

- I always ask what possession of the ball means. For me, it is not a priority. It is important to be brave, to have the will to win, and for everyone to see the chance - emphasized the coach.

He also stressed the importance of adapting during the match.

- The most important thing is that we can react to the situation and the score. At this level, you must have a plan for all scenarios - notes Barbarez.

He also commented on the statement of Wales' coach, Craig Bellamy, who spoke about his interest in the region's history.

- I have watched a thousand films about the Islanders, that is completely legitimate. You have to understand the opponent's mentality, I find it interesting, and I am glad that they are preparing for us just as we are preparing for them - added Barbarez.

Defender Nikola Katić also shared his view on tomorrow's match, praising the atmosphere in the team and emphasizing maximum focus.



- The atmosphere is always brilliant, we will give our best to achieve a positive result. They are a serious team, but we have analyzed the opponent well and are aware of what awaits us - said Katić.

He added that the team is not burdened by past stories.

- This story about the playoffs is being imposed through the media, but it does not affect us. Many of us were not part of it. This team is stronger than before, and we believe in what we are doing - said Katić.
