Barbarez: The lads deserved the win, we will try everything in Vienna', Džeko: 'This is a team with a future'

(Patria) - The Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team tonight defeated Romania 3-1 at a packed Bilino Polje, thus remaining in the race for World Cup qualification ahead of the final round of qualifiers.

Coach Sergej Barbarez was satisfied with his team's performance:

“Congratulations to the lads, they deserved it. The talk in the dressing room was very calm, I was satisfied with the first half too. We had those two counter-attacks, the centre-backs could have reacted better when the ball was played wide. We move on, we will try everything in Vienna. We are also considering plan B, what might happen. We want to play that second gear, through Hare and Kerim. A big applause for the lads.”

Speaking about the upcoming match with Austria, Barbarez said that they are going with great confidence.

“Certainly, half the stadium will be ours. We will give our best,” said Barbarez.

Captain Edin Džeko particularly emphasized the character and potential of the new generation:

“The second half showed that the lads have quality. Before the match, I looked at the lineup – one is 23, another 22... I'm a bit older, I'm ruining their average. This is our future. There are mistakes, but one must learn from them. We conceded a goal because we fell asleep a bit, but we showed character. We said at halftime to go out and give our best. We deserved this win. The goal at the start of the second half encouraged us. I think we showed that this national team has a future. Training is being done very seriously.”(
