Barbarez sparks optimism, but also caution: A historic opportunity lies ahead, we must be ready!

(Patria) - The Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team is entering a decisive month in the World Cup qualifying cycle, with the playoffs looming, and the Dragons face two challenges that could change the course of history.

The first obstacle is the Welsh national team, while a potential victory would bring a spectacle in Zenica against the Italian selection.

Optimism is felt in and around the national team, but also a dose of realism, as everyone is aware that there is no easy path. Nevertheless, the atmosphere in the professional staff exudes faith and determination. Coach Sergej Barbarez addressed the public via Instagram with an emotional message, clearly stating that the team faces much more than just a playoff.

On behalf of the entire professional staff, Barbarez wrote:

"Two matches! Twice we will face strong opponents. Twice we will face perhaps stronger opponents than we are currently. But we are not just facing a playoff match. We are facing history. An opportunity to open the door to the FIFA World Cup 2026 in the USA, Mexico, and Canada for a generation of players and the entire nation.

We, the professional staff, know what it means to wear the crest on our chest. It's not just a job. It's not just tactics, analysis, formation, or statistics. It's a responsibility towards every child who dreams of wearing the Bosnia and Herzegovina jersey on concrete, grass, or a school playground.

We are not 'just' coaches. We are architects of mentality. We are the ones who create belief when doubt arises. We are the ones who bring peace when emotions boil over. Playoffs are not won by quality alone – they are won by COURAGE, CALMNESS, AND UNITY.

Remember the journey we have been through. Remember how much sacrifice went into every qualifying match. Remember every criticism we turned into motivation. This moment did not come by chance. It is the result of work, discipline, and unity.
There will be eleven players on the field. But behind them stands the entire professional staff. Every substitution, every tactical adjustment, every message from the bench can be decisive.

In matches like these, details decide, and we must be stronger in every detail. We are not looking for perfection. We are looking for a fight for every ball. We are looking for communication without fear. We are looking for a cool head and a warm heart. If we are confident, the players will be confident too. If we believe, they will believe too. This is an opportunity to show that we dream big – and that we have the courage to achieve it.

One day, when we look back, I want us to be able to say: we gave everything. We didn't calculate. We didn't doubt. We were together. When the match comes, we will be the leaders our players need. We will be the strength behind every tackle, every sprint, and every goal. Let's qualify for the World Cup.
Let's write history. Let's go together – for Bosnia and Herzegovina."

The message quickly received strong reactions from fans, who believe that this generation can make a breakthrough and qualify for the FIFA World Cup 2026.
