Barbarez: If we reduce mistakes, we can move forward, we will take good things from the match with the Netherlands

(Patria) - The coach of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team, Sergej Barbarez, commented on the first-round match of the Nations League against the Netherlands, in which our team was defeated last night with a score of 2:5.

"It wasn't an easy match. We played against a team that is perhaps one of the best in the world. I think the guys tried everything. We had problems at the beginning, we were too far from the players and didn't have contact with the opponent to play more aggressively. We changed the system a couple of times to try to solve it. We improved a bit in the middle of the second half. We conceded goals in stoppage time of both halves due to our mistakes. If we manage to minimize those, then we can move forward. Everyone fought with themselves in a way, there was also respect for the opponent. We will take good things from this match, we showed a good face going forward. We scored two goals against such a team away from home from several chances, which is not easy at all. There were also some new faces, we are going our own way," said coach Barbarez.

Edin Džeko confirmed his excellent form from the start of the season. He reached his 66th cap for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team.

"I think the 5:2 score is too high, but I can't say it's undeserved, considering they had a few more chances. However, the goals they scored were a consequence of our players, or rather lost balls, which are punished at this level. If we manage to learn something from these mistakes, we will be on the right track," Džeko said after the match.

Ermedin Demirović scored his second goal for the Dragons.

"Unfortunately, two goals were not enough for a better result. I am proud of the team, I think we all gave our maximum. We had good moments, but also bad ones. There are many young players, it takes time for everything to gel, but I think we are on the right track. We have a good generation, Esmir played an excellent game and was brave. There isn't much time to rest, Hungary awaits us. If we play there like we played today for about 60-70 minutes, we have good chances to take one or three points," said the Dragons' goal scorer Ermedin Demirović.
