American basketball player Kemba Walker has ended his career

(Patria) - Celebrated American basketball player Kemba Walker announced his retirement on social media network X last night.

Walker, a key player for the Charlotte Hornets, the team of the famous Michael Jordan, was for a long time one of the best guards in the NBA league.

He also played for the Boston Celtics for two seasons, then was with the New York Knicks, before moving to Europe in 2023, after a stint with the Dallas Mavericks.

He joined Monaco, where he did not find his footing. He struggled with form, playing time was limited, and this turned out to be the last season of his career.

Walker retired at the age of 34, after 12 years in the NBA and one year in Europe.

In 2011, he was selected ninth overall in the first round of the draft and spent most of his career with the Hornets - until 2019.

Throughout his NBA career, he averaged 19.3 points in 750 games, with 3.8 rebounds and 5.3 assists.

His best season was 2018/2019, when he played all 82 games and averaged 25.6 points per game for the Hornets.

In his career, he played in the All-Star game four times, was part of the All-NBA Third Team in 2019, received the sportsmanship award twice, and was a college champion with UCon in 2011.
