Amel Tuka heads the jury for the Sportsman of BiH Awards

(Patria) - Amel Tuka, the best athlete of Bosnia and Herzegovina of all time and current president of the Olympians Commission of the Olympic Committee of BiH, is the president of the jury for the 24th Sportsman of Bosnia and Herzegovina Awards, traditionally organized by "Nezavisne novine" and Radio-television BiH.

Once the fastest man on the planet, he was named the best athlete twice in his brilliant and stellar sports career (2015 and 2019) in the most relevant award of its kind in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and now he has been entrusted with the role of selecting the greatest sporting achievements of the past year.

With his knowledge, role as a sports role model for many, and authority, Amel Tuka, in his capacity as president, will add an extra touch to the event that has been promoting the greatest sporting achievements of BiH's top sports ambassadors on the international stage for over two decades.

"It is an honor to be in a completely different role from the ones I have had. From an athlete who was chosen as the best, I have come to a position where I will participate in deciding who the winners will be. Unlike the role of an active athlete, this imposes even greater responsibility and the task of infallibility in decision-making," said Amel Tuka, adding:

"As someone who has stood on the winners' stage twice, I know very well what the Sportsman of Bosnia and Herzegovina Award, organized by "Nezavisne novine" and BHRT, means. This is an event that has recognized and promoted sports in BiH in the best way for years and motivates young people to continue fighting for the highest goals. Almost a quarter of a century of tradition of the Sportsman Awards, as well as the names of all those awarded so far, obliges this year's jury to continue awarding exclusively those who have deserved it with their results.

I am sure that this year too, the awards will go to the right hands".

Amel Tuka has a career that even athletes from much more developed systems than ours would envy. The 800-meter specialist has amazed the world multiple times, and the year 2015 is certainly remembered when he left everyone breathless by winning a bronze medal at the World Championships in Beijing. When some thought that was the limit for BiH athletics, the representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina pushed the boundaries four years later, becoming the world vice-champion at the 2019 World Championships in Doha.

Among other things, he won Diamond League meetings, beating Olympic vice-champion Nijel Amos and world champion Mohammed Aman. Amel Tuka's name was on the lists of finalists at the Olympic Games, European Championships, and all major athletic meetings worldwide.

The ceremonial event, the Sportsman of BiH Awards, organized by "Nezavisne novine" and BHRT, will be held this year on December 16th in the Congress Hall of the Hotel Holiday in Sarajevo, starting at 8 PM, with a live broadcast on BHT 1 and the portal nezavisne. com.
