Aggressive Romanians defeated on home turf: Gigović's goal sees BiH open qualifiers in the best way

(Patria) - The Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team achieved a victory at the start of the World Cup qualifiers in Romania.

The only goal scorer was Armin Gigović, who sustained an injury during the second half and left the field.

In the 25th minute, Demirović steals a ball and passes it to Dedić, who crosses into the Romanian penalty area, but the home team's defenders were secure there.

A minute later, a great chance for the Romanians. Draguș skillfully got rid of his marker, but fortunately for us, he shot inaccurately.

Draguș tried again in the 31st minute. This time he headed the ball, but was not accurate and it went wide of the goal.

The captain of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team, Edin Džeko, stayed on the ground in the 37th minute and took a blow to the face, which is why he remained in the locker room at halftime. The information is not promising, it is suspected that his nose is broken.

The Romanians had two great opportunities at the end of the first half. First, Bancu crossed, Vasilj boxed it away, and the ball came to Mann, who shot wide.

A minute later, another great chance for the hosts. Draguș headed the ball, but it went just wide of the goal.

At the start of the second half, Tahirović handled the ball in our penalty area, and after a few minutes of deliberation, the referee decided there was no penalty and play continued.

Vasilj saved our national team in the 57th minute. Bancu crossed from the left, Draguș shot from a few meters, but our brilliant goalkeeper saved it.

Hagi made a good run down the left flank, but was blocked by Barišić. The hosts appealed for a penalty, but only got a corner.

The Romanians tried to create an opportunity afterwards and equalize, but ultimately failed to do so.

In the 97th minute, Baždar went one-on-one with the home goalkeeper, tried to lob him, but sent the ball over the goal.

Our national team thus achieved a victory at the start of the World Cup qualifiers, and they play their second-round match in Zenica against Cyprus on Monday.
