Adis Bećiragić continues to lead the Dragons

(Patria) - Adis Bećiragić will remain the head coach of the Bosnia and Herzegovina men's national basketball team. This is the second piece of good news after the national team qualified for the EuroBasket, which will be played from late August to late September.

Bećiragić's contract with the Basketball Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina expires, but he confirmed to Meridiansport BH that he spoke with the leaders of our Association yesterday and that everything has been agreed.

“My contract expires and we have reached an agreement. We had talks yesterday and agreed on everything over the phone. We have also started making plans for the preparatory period. The contract just needs to be signed. Until it is signed, someone could always change their mind, but I think that's it,” said the head coach.

Bećiragić also commented on the qualifications and Bosnia and Herzegovina's qualification for the EuroBasket. He spoke about the two-legged tie with Croatia.

“Few people approached the problem of the match in Croatia in such a way that our defeat was not realistically convincing. Maybe we didn't play our best, but the real picture of us and Croatia at that moment was not those 13 points difference. We conceded a three-pointer in the last second at least six times, but at that moment I knew that such a big defeat was not realistic. The big problem was that it was a 13-point difference.

But we knew what it means to play in Skenderija and we knew that Musa would come, who always brings madness and quality to our game. Our goal was to win so that we wouldn't be burdened by needing a 14-point difference, and later, if possible, to chase the result. Which eventually happened,” said the head coach for Meridiansport BH and commented on the return match in Skenderija.

“It wasn't difficult for me to prepare that match. The most difficult match I had to prepare was the one against Hungary in the World Cup qualifiers. Few people know that. Out of 12 players, we didn't have seven. They all left one by one.

Even Roberson decided on the day of the match not to play due to pain. We were in a very difficult situation. We played with a lineup that had never played together. In the end, we won, and at one point we even had a 20-point lead. That was difficult, not against Croatia.”
