(Patria) - Many people rely on smartphones for a multitude of tasks. And for these devices to function properly, it is necessary to maintain them regularly and update their software.
In line with this, the US National Security Agency (NSA) recommends completely turning off mobile phones at least once a week.
The main reason for the NSA's recommendation for weekly mobile phone shutdowns is protection against security threats.
Smartphones are often targeted by hacker attacks, including sophisticated methods like zero-click exploits, where the user doesn't have to do anything active, like clicking on a malicious link, writes PCWorld.
Attacks can be initiated even via missed calls or invisible communications that the user might not even notice.
Completely shutting down the device interrupts all active sessions and communications, including those that might be compromised.
This shutdown helps reset security settings and protects the device from potential threats that may have infiltrated the system.
In addition to increasing security, weekly mobile phone shutdowns can also improve its performance.
When a smartphone is constantly in use, a large amount of temporary files and data for faster access (cache) can accumulate, which can slow down its operation and cause technical difficulties.
By regularly shutting down mobile phones, we allow the operating system to "reset" and clear everything that unnecessarily hinders its operation, thereby achieving faster and more efficient device operation.
