SDP, DF, Gradjanski savez: Breaking the chain of command of AF BiH is attack on peace

SDP BiH, DF and Gradjanski savez (Citizen Alliance) issued a joint press release regarding the participation of the 3rd Infantry Regiment of the Armed Forces BiH at the ceremony marking the nonconstitutional holiday of the Republika Srpska.

- It is, without any doubt, a petite coup d'etat directed by Mladen Ivanic, the Serb member of BH Presidency and Marina Pendes, the Defense Minister. They issued an order to commission the members of AF BiH and thus violated the Constitution of BiH.

That has undoubtedly caused breaking the chain of command and undermined the role of BH Presidency as the supreme commander of the AF BiH. What is more, a precedence has been set that may allow HDZ and SNSD to commission the Armed Forces any time they wish, the way they wish, without an agreement by all three Presidency members.  

We think that, by doing so Ivanic and Pendes, i.e. Dragan Covic, attacked not only the constitutional and legal order but also the peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

We are requesting Bakir Izetbegovic to order Denis Zvizdic, the Chairman of the Council of Ministers, to call an urgent session of the National Security Council, which he presides, and also to request OSA and SIPA to start an investigation about the attack on the military and defense power and armed rebellion, as defined by the Criminal law of BiH.

We are also requesting Bakir Izetbegovic that he publicly announces concrete measures and steps he is taking or planning to take in order to overcome this obvious attack on the constitutional and legal order.

Should he fail to do so, he would bear historical responsibility for disintegrating the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It would then become clear that, not only that Milorad Dodik wanted to create a Serb state on the half of BH territory, but also that Bakir Izetbegovic wanted to create a little Muslim country on a quarter of BH territory.

We are calling all progressive forces in BiH to join us in defining a clear political platform to overcome the crisis in the country. We think that citizen parties ought to offer a program founded on the Platform of the Presidency RBiH from June 1992, and to offer an alternative to the existing agreements of the nationalists who want to take us to violence for the second time in 25 years.
