'Croat politics seems undefined. The Croats are lacking orientation. Big problem is that the Croat politics is directed by so-called Herzeg-Bosnia, which is the worst, most catastrophic part of Croat politics that is still so powerful', father Ivo Markovic, a Bosnian friar and a professor at Franciscan Theology said in an interview for TV1.
- Those are, by and large, people educated during the communist era and according to UDBA tradition. It is easy for Covic to click with them as they have the same mindset. I think that the Croat presence in BiH is mainly through Herzeg-Bosnia. They should have more active politics, and be clearer as to what they want from Bosnia and Herzegovina, father Markovic said.
- Croat politics has to openly oppose the politics of Milorad Dodik, he thinks.
- They have to openly say that they would not allow any secession, and that the Croats should have presence in whole of BiH as their own territory. I think there's room for a constructive role for Croatia in that respect, father Markovic says.
He shared his hopes that the EU would not fall apart as that is one of the best society models in the contemporary world. 'Once it becomes part of EU, BiH will see changes in the organization of its society, both in economic and legal respects', he opines.
- Politicians are afraid of having similar destiny to the one of Sanader, and that's why they fear EU, father Markovic said.
He thinks that the forces that could take BiH to EU should be better organized.
- I'm disappointed in the opposition, which does not seem to have enough strength. Should the opposition start with active care for the needs of people and protection of the exploited, BiH could accelerate the process of EU integration, father Ivo Markovic told TV1.
