In July 1995, the Hague convict, Ratko Mladic, wrote in his war diary that he had complained to Jovica Stanisic how he lacked troops for some things. Stanisic wrote back: 'I'm sending you 80 great guys from Djeletovac.'
- Those 'great guys' were the Scorpios. They were not some lowlifes but men sent by Jovica Stanisic, then head of state security. Stanisic was not the only Serbia's official that Mladic mentioned in his notes. At the time of 'operation Srebrenica' General Perisic was in military facilities in Han Pijesak. When you know that, it is hard to believe that Serbia had no clue what was going on, Dejan Anastasijevic, magazine Vrijeme journalist said for Belgrade TV B92. He had an insight into Mladic's war notes that indicate that Serbia's involvement in the wars in BiH and Croatia was far greater than Serbia would wish to admit.
18 notebooks were confiscated during raid of Mladic's family homes in December 2008. Serbia's government handed the diaries to the Hague investigators on 25 February 2009, and Mladic was in The Hague already on 2 March.
Besides the notebooks, dozens of video records of meetings and celebrations that Mladic participated in from 1991 – 1995 were also seized.
The war diaries also contained minutes from the meetings of Mladic, Stanisic and other high political and military leaders with then president of Serbia, Slobodan Milosevic, held between 27 January and 5 September 1995. In their request, the Hague prosecution explained that records of those meetings indicate close cooperation among the protagonists in the joint criminal enterprise.
Will Mladic war diary and minutes that the Hague convict and general of RS Army was meticulously taking be utilized in the context of request for revision of BiH lawsuit against Serbia before the International Court of Justice in The Hague? The deadline expires at the end of February.
