Photos from French President Emmanuel Macron's visit also show the interior of the iconic cathedral as worshippers could see it in the Middle Ages - its wide, open spaces filled with bright light on a sunny winter day.
The cathedral attracted millions of worshippers and visitors annually before its forced closure due to the fire that broke out on April 15, 2019.
The fire turned this cultural monument in the heart of Paris into a restricted zone, accessible only to those working on its reconstruction.
From the outside, the monument is still a construction site, with scaffolding and cranes, but the renovated interior has been shown in its full glory for the first time before visitors are allowed entry from December 8.
Macron entered through the cathedral's large and carved entrance doors and gazed at the ceilings in wonder. He was accompanied by his wife Brigitte, the Archbishop of Paris, and several other people.
Macron will return to Notre Dame on December 7 to give a speech and attend the consecration of the new altar during a solemn mass the following day.
