(Patria) - WhatsApp has announced a new feature called Message Translations.
This feature works in private chats, group chats, and on channels.
When you see a message in another language, simply press and hold it, then select "Translate", and from there choose the language you want to translate from or to.
Android users will have an additional option to enable automatic translation for all incoming messages within an entire conversation.
WhatsApp claims that all translations are performed on the device itself, which should mean that the application itself does not have access to that data.
As stated, the feature is gradually being rolled out for iOS and Android users in certain languages, and will be expanded later.
On Android, messages can be translated into English, Spanish, Hindi, Portuguese, Russian, and Arabic. When it comes to iPhone, this will be available in more than 19 languages.
