(Patria) - The city of Novi Pazar has still not received the installment of non-earmarked transfers from the republican budget for August, which has jeopardized the functioning of the local self-government, Radio "Sto plus" unofficially learns.
This installment is usually paid on the 20th of each month, but Novi Pazar, as unofficially learned, has not received it even after five days.
As a result, employees in the local self-government, as well as public institutions that are direct budget beneficiaries, such as the preschool institution "Mladost", have not been paid their salaries.
The City Administration did not want to either confirm or deny that they had not received the installment of non-earmarked transfers.
The withholding of funds from Novi Pazar occurred after statements by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić that "there is no more money for the State University and local self-government."
"Because they do not know how to manage the municipality, because they do not know how to manage all other things and are creating huge deficits," Vučić stated at the end of July.
In addition to the fact that they have still not received the funds, a budget inspection has been present in the City Administration in recent days, checking the operations of the local self-government, as well as certain public enterprises.
