RS AUTHORITIES BUILDING HOSPITAL ON AGRICULTURAL LAND Citizens of Trebinje showed dissatisfaction with a protest march, stating they will not give up

SARAJEVO, (Patria) -An informal group of citizens “Movement for Restitution Trebinje“ today expressed their dissatisfaction with a protest march in the settlement of Pridvorci due to the laying of the foundation stone for construction on agricultural land in Trebinje. The gathered citizens thus appealed to all competent institutions to stop any construction on agricultural land, especially considering that a building permit was issued only for preparatory works, not for construction.

“We gathered here today to show all government representatives who were invited to the ceremonial laying of the foundation stone for construction on agricultural land in our city, that we will not give up on our demands and that construction on agricultural land is not allowed. Namely, by not respecting the laws, they are trying to usurp arable agricultural areas in order to build commercial and residential buildings on them. There is no law by which the authorities can dispose of and build on this property, and we will certainly persevere to prove it. We point out that it is only a matter of days when all decisions issued by the cadastre through the Public Attorney's Office of Republika Srpska will be annulled. We will not give up, and we are sure that every individual involved in these malversations will be held accountable. Justice may be slow, but it is attainable,“ stated the representatives of the „Movement for Restitution Trebinje“, on the occasion of laying the foundation stone for the hospital in Trebinje. 

We remind you that the citizens of Trebinje have been fighting against construction on agricultural land for more than two years. In their fight, they emphasize that it is Class I arable land and that an irrigation system, into which millions of KM have been invested, was opened at Pridvoračko field (which includes the disputed location) 2 years ago.

In addition, the mentioned land is treated as agricultural in the Urban Plan, and any construction is not allowed on it, and there is a ban on managing this land. Precisely because of the violation of laws and disregard for procedures, citizens have initiated two criminal charges and an appeal to the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and in the meantime, they have received a decision from the Constitutional Court of Republika Srpska which challenges the decision of the City of Trebinje on the parcelation and sale of agricultural land at another location, and determines that the decision of the City of Trebinje in that case is unconstitutional.

We will not give up - we will use all legal remedies to achieve our goal - we will not allow construction on agricultural land. We will not stop until the illegal actions are stopped.
