Major egg shortage in Russia

(Patria) - There is a major egg shortage in Russia.

Restrictions have been introduced in the country, so one person can buy only three cartons, if available, as most stores have no eggs on their shelves at all.

- I haven't been to the stores for a week, but in the previous period, egg prices have drastically increased. I think 20 percent, no less - says a Russian woman.

But eggs have not increased by 20, but by as much as 40 percent, reports Dnevnik Nove TV reporter Lara Švigir.

Russia's import of one billion and 200 million eggs will be duty-free in the first six months of next year to help curb prices. They say this will ensure an increase in supply.

Russia, by the way, is struggling with high inflation. However, despite the fact that about 49 percent of European exports to Russia and 58 percent of Russian imports are under sanctions, the Russian economy has not been affected.
