(Patria) - Zakopane is a city in southern Poland, on the very edge of the Tatra National Park, which, like the mountain range, also extends into neighboring Slovakia, writes Punkufer.
The hills above Zakopane are a favorite year-round excursion destination, and in winter, this part of the green Tatras turns into popular ski resorts and the fairytale Snowland, a winter adventure park with numerous imaginative attractions, enjoyed by all children regardless of age.
In addition to ski slopes and sledding runs, and everything that is expected to come with them, Snowland also boasts igloos, an ice sculpture park, and a real Snow Castle and Snow Queen's Palace with fifteen-meter-high towers.
In addition, it is home to the largest snow labyrinth not only in Poland but in the entire world. The snow labyrinth was first built in 2016, and its area exceeds 2,500 square meters.
It is located below the famous Wielka Krokiew ski jumping hill, where ski jumping competitions have been held for almost a hundred years.
The labyrinth corridors are a full kilometer long, and its walls are two meters high – so only a few can “peek” over them to help themselves navigate.
The snow labyrinth is, of course, only a seasonal attraction, as is the entire Snowland, which is open for visits from January to mid-March, unless unexpected temperature jumps or warm winds interfere.
The labyrinth is built from 60,000 blocks of compacted snow, just like igloos are built, and visitors get “lost” in the labyrinth for about an hour.
If anyone needs more time, there is no fear of freezing because, as we learn, no one has ever been forgotten there overnight.
