In "Start" operation, Mayor of Old Town Ibrahim Hadžibajrić detained by MUP

(Patria) - In the "Start" operation, members of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Internal Affairs detained Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, Mayor of the Old Town Municipality. Alma Destanović, Secretary of the Old Town Municipality, was arrested earlier. In addition to Mayor Hadžibajrić and Secretary Destanović, the mayor's son, Seid Hadžibajrić, was also detained.

Today, the police searched the Old Town Municipality based on an order from the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo, in cooperation with EUROPOL, and under the supervision of the acting prosecutors from the Sarajevo and State Prosecutor's Offices.

Searches were conducted in the areas of the municipalities of Stari Grad, Novo Sarajevo, Vogošća, and Ilidža - at more than 20 locations. The searches included residential buildings, business and official premises, and passenger vehicles.

Documentation, as well as certain amounts of cash and valuable jewelry, were found and seized. Several passenger vehicles were also temporarily confiscated.

The operational-tactical operation involved more than 10 individuals and legal entities suspected of organized crime and abuses amounting to several million. Activities are being carried out in coordination with EUROPOL and relate to criminal offenses of organized crime and money laundering, as well as corrupt criminal offenses of abuse of office or authority, and receiving and giving gifts.
