COMPARED TO JANUARY Number of employees in February decreased by 1,733 in FBiH, but contributions collected are higher by 70 million KM

(Patria) - The number of employees by place of residence as of February 28, 2025, in FBiH is 545,130. Compared to the number of employees as of January 31, 2025, there was a decrease in the number of employees by 1,733.

If compared to February 2024, the number has increased by 2,908. However, a decrease of 1,733 employees in just one month is concerning. This was influenced by the decision to increase the minimum wage from 620 to 1,000 KM, which has been in effect since January 2025.

According to official records of the Tax Administration of the Federation of BiH as of February 28, 2025, there are 166,897 employees aged up to 35, or 30.62% of employees, and 378,233 employees aged over 36, or 69.38% of employees. As of February 28, 2025, there are 302,630 male employees, or 55.52%, and 242,500 female employees, or 44.48%.

In the structure of contributions for the period January - February 2025, the following were collected:

- contributions for Pension and Disability Insurance (PIO/MIO) in the amount of 542,831,657 KM,
- contributions for Health Insurance in the amount of 382,778,915 KM,
- contributions for Unemployment Insurance in the amount of 44,743,774 KM.

In January 2025, contributions for pension and disability insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance were collected in a total amount of 449,315,945 KM. Combined for the first two months, this amounted to 970,354,346 KM.

Simple calculation shows that there has been an increase in paid contributions due to the increase in the minimum wage. Thus, in February, 521,038,401 KM were collected, which is a difference of 71,722,456 KM compared to January.
