In one of the most beautiful Bosnian villages, you can visit a 14th-century fortress

(Patria) - Wandering photographer Boris Trogrančić, who regularly introduces us to the natural beauties of Bosnia and Herzegovina, visited one of the most beautiful Bosnian villages this time - Vranduk.

Vranduk is located in central Bosnia, only about ten kilometers from Zenica, and is known for its medieval fortress from the 14th century, writes Punkufer.hr.

Once a ban and royal city, it is now a three-story museum where you can see tools, dishes, royal and knightly attire, but also visit a medieval market, a blacksmith's shop, and other workshops, or even try your hand at medieval games.

The Old Town of Vranduk is perched atop a three-hundred-meter-high cliff that the Bosna River slowly but dramatically encircles, and in the past, it played an important role in monitoring traffic from the Pannonian Plain towards the Adriatic.

The name Vranduk is first mentioned in 1410 as the possession of the Croatian-Hungarian King Sigismund of Luxembourg.

It soon belonged to the Bosnian kings, and the Ottomans occupied it in 1463, and four centuries later, in 1878, it came under Austro-Hungarian rule.

Vranduk is on the list of the 17 most beautiful villages in BiH, not only because of its well-preserved medieval fortress but also because of its enchanting landscape, houses with preserved characteristic architecture, and numerous traditional river mills, some of which are two hundred years old.
