Around 100 aid trucks entered Gaza for the suffering population

(Patria) - In the context of the widespread hunger crisis in the Gaza Strip, large aid shipments arrived today for the first time in months in the besieged and endangered coastal area.

A convoy of about 100 aid trucks for the suffering population entered the Gaza Strip via the Kerem Shalom border crossing, according to sources from the Palestinian territory, Hina reports.

Several hours earlier, the Israeli army announced that it would implement a daily self-proclaimed "tactical pause in military activities for humanitarian purposes" from 10 AM to 8 PM until further notice in parts of the Gaza Strip.

The pause applies to al-Mawasi in the southwest of the coastal strip, Deir al-Balah in the center, and the city of Gaza in the north – areas where the Israeli army, as it states, "is not operating".

Although Israel previously designated al-Mawasi as a "humanitarian zone" during the war, the army has repeatedly attacked the area, killing many people.

Deir al-Balah houses the central warehouse of the World Health Organization (WHO), which WHO claims was damaged when Israeli ground troops first entered the area.

In addition, humanitarian corridors will be in effect from 6 AM to 11 PM to enable the UN and humanitarian organizations to deliver food and medicine to the population in Gaza, the army stated.

Israel's actions come in response to increasing international criticism of its military operations in the Palestinian territory. Since Israel broke the ceasefire in March, only limited aid has reached the area.

The World Health Organization recently warned of a deadly hunger crisis among the approximately 2 million inhabitants of the Gaza Strip. 125 people have died of malnutrition in Gaza, including 85 children, the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced earlier.
