In Algeria you will have lunch for 3-4 euros, and a coffee or tea for only 30 cents

(Patria) - Travel writer Robert Dacešin recently reported from Algeria - an excellent destination for those looking for affordable places that offer plenty of content, without too many tourists.

So, for example, in Algeria you can have one of the cheapest coffees in the world - you will pay about 30 cents for it and enjoy the view of a mosque older than a thousand years, writes Punkufer.

- It is true that Africa is the continent I have visited the least and that I have only visited about ten countries there so far, but I have the impression that the capital of Algeria - Algiers - is the best city I have been to.

With its 2.5 million inhabitants, this city offers you the opportunity to experience true exoticism, rich history, meet cordial people, and taste a real travel experience at probably never lower prices.

Southeast Asia is synonymous with cheap travel, but I am of the opinion that Algeria, along with Iran, is perhaps the cheapest place I have been to recently.

Starting with the fact that you will pay 3 to 4 euros for lunch, drink coffee or tea for 0.30 euros, travel tens of kilometers by taxi for 2 to 3 euros, and in addition, enter almost every attraction that this city offers for free, and believe me, it offers a lot.

Although this destination, to be honest, was never on my bucket list, now that I am here, I can freely say that Algeria has one of the best price-quality ratios for travel that I have experienced so far.

If Algeria is a country where the influence of France can be strongly felt, starting from the architecture, food, to the language which is even more dominant there than Arabic, which is official, I would say that Oran is, without a doubt, the 'most French' city in the country.

With the nickname 'Paris of Africa', this is a place where French architecture merges in an unusual way with oriental style elements, and where it still looks charming and beautiful.

The city is home to about 2 million inhabitants today, and what is striking here is the large number of impressive cathedrals you will see throughout the city.

Besides them, there is also the beautiful Santa Cruz fortress, which you can reach by cable car for less than a euro, and from which you will have one of the best views of the city.

It is recommended to also visit the Grand Post, the Palais de la Culture, the old part of the city known as the Kasbah, several beautiful mosques, and several more than impressive buildings with a history spanning several centuries.

And the best thing of all is that there are no tourists at all. Namely, I don't remember being in a country recently that offers so much history, and which is visited by almost no one, and in these five days that we have been here, I don't know if I have seen a single foreigner.

Therefore, if you are thinking about a wild and exotic destination that has not been affected by mass tourism, this could be a great option - said Dacešin.
