(Patria) - Last year's import of gold, silver, platinum, and various jewelry items into BiH surpassed the previous record, writes Capital.
Namely, the import of precious metals in 2024 was "worth" almost 57 million, on which duties amounting to 10.5 million KM were paid.
More precisely, precious metals worth 56,808,666 KM were imported into BiH last year.
The largest import was jewelry items and their parts made of precious metals, for slightly less than 34 million KM, followed by waste and scrap of precious metals worth 19.8 million.
Pure gold was imported worth 2.1 million KM, according to data from the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH.
For comparison, in 2023, precious metals worth 47.5 million KM were imported, 50 million the year before, and only 40 million KM in 2021.
One of the reasons is certainly the price of gold on the world market, which reached unprecedented heights last year. The price of gold yesterday on exchanges was 84 euros per gram, which is approximately 168 KM.
