(Patria) - The traditional Christmas Concert, organized by the Serb Educational and Cultural Society (SPKD) “Prosvjeta” Sarajevo, will be held on Saturday, January 4th, starting at 7:30 PM at the National Theatre Sarajevo.
The President of SPKD "Prosvjeta", Nedeljko Masleša, stated at a press conference that by organizing the Christmas Concert, “Prosvjeta” is joining the celebration of this great Christian holiday.
- We hope that this festive concert of ours will complete the holiday atmosphere. We want this cultural event, in its own way, to contribute to preserving and nurturing the tradition of mutual understanding, appreciation, and respect that has always characterized the way of life in these regions - Masleša stated.
The President of the Management Board of the Serb Educational and Cultural Society "Prosvjeta", Dejan Garić, reminded that the concert is being held for the fifteenth time this year.
- When we started this whole endeavor in 2011, we never dreamed we would grow to this number. It's a small anniversary. The concert is in its teenage years, maturing, but I think it is already sufficiently serious, and that the audience and others have recognized this. With this concert, we have had 15 different choirs, about 20 ensembles, about 40 soloists, and various reciters. All in all, about 1000 performers - Garić emphasized.
He also said that tickets for the Christmas Concert are sold out, but that they will not turn away music lovers who did not manage to get tickets.
The proceeds from the tickets, which cost a symbolic 10 KM, are otherwise intended for Prosvjeta's scholarship fund.
In addition to performers from Sarajevo, Prosvjeta's chamber choir “Teodor Romanić” and the accordion duo from the Academy of Music in Sarajevo, guests at the concert will include, among others, the chamber choir “Odjek” from Požarevac, under the artistic direction of Professor Ilija Rajković.
