(Patria) - UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said that last night he would hold an "urgent call" with France and Germany on Friday about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, calling for a ceasefire and steps towards Palestinian statehood, AFP reported.
"I will hold an urgent call with the E3 partners, where we will discuss what we can urgently do to stop the killing and provide people with the food they desperately need, while taking all necessary steps to build a lasting peace," Satarmer said in a statement on Thursday.
"A ceasefire will put us on the path to recognizing a Palestinian state and a two-state solution that guarantees peace and security for Palestinians and Israelis."
Starmer said the situation in Gaza has "reached new depths and continues to worsen".
"The suffering and hunger unfolding in Gaza are unspeakable and unforgivable," Starmer said.
"We are witnessing a humanitarian catastrophe," he added.
Israel is facing increasing international pressure to allow a massive increase in humanitarian aid for more than two million Palestinians in Gaza, where warnings of imminent starvation are intensifying.
