(Patria) - Companies in Saudi Arabia have announced that they have secured nearly $2.4 billion for major investments in solar energy in the country.
Saudi oil giant Aramco is also participating in this project, reports the Oil Price portal, as carried by SEEbiz.
The Al-Shu'aba PV 1 and Al-Shu'aba PV 2 projects will together produce 2.6 gigawatts of clean energy to supply about 450,000 households in Saudi Arabia.
The total value of these investments is estimated at $2.37 billion, and the mentioned solar power plants will start operating in 2025.
Riyadh aims to build 58 gigawatts of solar and wind power plants by 2030, while currently it has less than one gigawatt of these capacities.
