(Patria) - Greek Aegean Airlines will discontinue its flights between Skopje and Sarajevo starting November 29, just over a year after launching operations between the two cities.
The carrier initially planned to offer the service three times a week in November and December, and twice a week from January.
However, it is now cancelling all flights after the end of November. Ticket sales for the summer 2025 season have also been suspended.
The airline has not commented on its decision to cease flights.
This summer, Aegean Airlines operated the route between the two capitals primarily with an ATR42 aircraft with 46 seats, through its regional subsidiary Olympic Air, although it initially planned for a slightly larger ATR72 turboprop with 72 seats.
The service marked the first time Skopje and Sarajevo had been connected by a scheduled air route in thirteen years, when the now-defunct B&H Airlines operated flights between the two cities.
Aegean Airlines applied for the Macedonian government's subsidy program for introducing new routes from Skopje last year but withdrew after the tender was declared invalid.
It did not participate in a subsequent public call organized by the Government.
The Greek national carrier also plans to further reduce frequencies on its Athens - Skopje route, reports Ex-Yu Aviation News.
