For cycling enthusiasts only: Ride one of the most beautiful trails in Europe

(Patria) - Italy's largest lake, Lago di Garda, besides spectacular pre-Alpine views, picturesque towns and romantic memories from the early days of tourism, offers its visitors plenty of outdoor activities.

Along with numerous promenades and hiking trails, nature lovers probably already have the Ciclopista del Garda on their lists - a pedestrian and cycling path whose first section, opened in 2018, has already placed it among the most beautiful in Europe.

So far, 93 percent of the trail has been opened, and next year it should finally be fully completed - all 167 impressive kilometres, reports Punkufer.



Ciclopista del Garda or Garda by Bike partially uses existing cycling paths, and partially new paths and accompanying infrastructure have been built.

The costs of the 345 million euro project are shared by the regions of Lombardy and Veneto and the province of Trento, which meet at Lago di Garda.

This pedestrian and cycling path will be connected to two Italian cycling arteries - Ciclovia del Sole and Ciclovia Vento.



The path is 2.5 metres wide, and since it is primarily intended for day-trippers and families, the maximum permitted cycling speed is 10 kilometres per hour (those who prefer more wind in their hair can use local roads).

It is open 24 hours a day, and at night it is illuminated with specially designed LED lighting.

The path itself is not too technically demanding, but due to its length, it is not intended, at least not entirely, for those with weaker fitness levels.

The pedestrian and cycling path is covered with wooden planks, making it pleasant for riding, and visitors will be delighted by its design, just as much as by the views it offers.

For access to this pedestrian and cycling path, it is recommended to park in Limone del Garda. Since the route is not yet connected, for now you cannot cycle it in a loop.

The sections you can traverse are: Limone - Pescarol location; Torbole - Riva del Garda; Garda - Punta San Vigilio; Bardolino - Garda and Peschiera - Lazise.
