Rolls-Royce announces layoffs of one-sixth of employees

(Patria) - Car manufacturer Rolls-Royce announced that it plans to lay off 2,000 to 2,500 employees worldwide, which is about six percent of the total number of employees in the company.

Rolls-Royce also announced plans to increase efficiency by creating a simpler and more organized structure.

The new structure, as announced, aims for a more agile business that can better serve customers and continue to offer first-class products.

"The planned changes will enable cost efficiency. We must manage costs and staffing levels tightly, minimizing the overall reduction in the number of employees.

(After the changes) employment is estimated to decrease by 2,000 to 2,500 people globally. Rolls-Royce currently employs 42,000 people," the company announced.
