(Patria) - Prices of precious metals, primarily gold and silver, continue their strong upward trend at the beginning of 2026, following an exceptionally good last year.
Analysts point out that the growth is driven by expectations of monetary policy easing, increased investor demand, and global geopolitical uncertainties.
Gold Near Historic Highs
Gold has continued its rise and is near its record values. This trend is a result of expectations that central banks, primarily the US Federal Reserve, will reduce interest rates in the coming period, which traditionally benefits gold as a safe investment.
In addition, the weakening of the US dollar and the increased demand for safe investments have further stimulated interest in this precious metal.
Silver has recorded an even more pronounced increase compared to gold in the recent period. The reason lies in its dual role – on one hand as an investment asset, and on the other as an important raw material in industry, especially in the production of solar panels, electric vehicles, and electronic equipment.
Increased industrial demand, coupled with limited supply, has further pushed silver prices upwards.
Why are prices continuing to rise?
The main reasons for the rise in precious metal prices are:
- Expected reduction in interest rates, making gold and silver more attractive investments
- Geopolitical and economic uncertainties, which increase demand for safe havens
- Central bank purchases, which continue to strengthen their gold reserves
- Growth in industrial demand, especially for silver
Experts warn that, although the growth trend remains strong, the market remains sensitive to changes in monetary policy and global economic trends. Gold is still considered a more stable form of capital protection, while silver carries greater growth potential, but also a higher risk of fluctuations, according to Biznisinfo.
In the coming period, increased investor attention is expected towards inflation trends, central bank decisions, and global political developments, which will directly affect the prices of precious metals.
