REACTION OF IGK Shameful commemoration of "Day of Russian" volunteers in Višegrad

SARAJevo, (Patria) - The commemoration of the "Day of Russian volunteers" in Višegrad is confirmation that Russia also participated in the aggression against RBiH.

Today's shameful commemoration is an insult to the victims of genocide against Bosniaks in Višegrad and BiH. Celebrating this day is sowing fear, but also invoking new crimes, such as those committed by Russian soldiers between 1992 and 1995, together with the Chetniks from Podrinje and the units of the Army of the entity RS and Serbia against the Bosniak people in BiH, especially in Višegrad. Today, some of them are committing crimes in Ukraine, the Institute for Research of Genocide Canada states.

"The anti-civilization, dehumanizing, shameful commemoration of the 'Day of Russian' volunteers in a city where these same volunteers, together with the Chetniks, committed the most monstrous crimes against the Bosniak people must be the subject of an urgent investigation by the BiH Prosecutor's Office. Criminals from the Russian Federation have never been prosecuted for the war crimes they committed in BiH, although they regularly visit BiH.

IGK requests that the BiH Prosecutor's Office perform its duties within its jurisdiction, i.e., to urgently consider the report from the Association "Women - Victims of War" regarding the announcement last year of the "Commemoration of the Day of Russian Volunteers" on April 12, 2022. Some of the former volunteers who come to Višegrad openly promote going to a foreign battlefield in Ukraine, even though inciting people to join a foreign military formation is prohibited by law," the statement added.
