(Patria) - Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the OPEC+ agreement on limiting oil production via telephone with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Reuters reports.
They expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation between the two countries to stabilize the global oil market, the Kremlin announced.
Putin and bin Salman have also established close business ties.
“The conversation was held in a friendly manner, it was constructive and informative. With that in mind, it was agreed to build contacts in certain areas of cooperation,” the Kremlin stated.
The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) formed an alliance in 2016 known as OPEC+ with other major producers led by Russia, to cooperate closely in the oil market. Earlier this month, OPEC+ oil producers announced further oil production cuts of about 1.16 million barrels per day.
