(Patria) - Famous Italian fashion designer Valentino Garavani has passed away at the age of 93, Italian media reported today.

"Valentino Garavani died today at his home in Rome surrounded by his loved ones," his foundation wrote on Instagram.

Tributes to Garavani will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, and the funeral in Rome on Friday.

Valentino Garavani was an exceptional figure in the fashion world, and his passion for style and elegance awakened in childhood.

After graduating from the fashion design school at the Santa Marta Institute in Milan, Valentino, with the support of his parents, decided to move to Paris at the age of 17, where he enrolled in the prestigious school for haute couture.

He also began his professional career in Paris, took dance classes, and during those years met major stars of fashion and film.

The meeting with Giancarlo Giammetti, with whom he built both a professional and emotional partnership, was crucial to his success, and together they built one of the most legendary fashion houses in the world.

Valentino retired from active designing in 2008, but his influence on the fashion world remained strong.
