Actress Brigitte Bardot was one of the most beautiful women of the 20th century. She leaves behind iconic works and roles that brought her fame.
After retiring from the film world, she dedicated herself to animal protection, writes Figaro.
She was born on September 28, 1934, in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, where she had a strict upbringing. Her mother, who dreamed of becoming a ballerina, passed on her love for classical ballet and enrolled her in the Paris Conservatory.
Her father, a film enthusiast, passed on his fascination with the big screen on which she would later appear.
Her parents' acquaintances from high society enabled her first steps into the world of fashion photography. At fifteen, she was on the cover of the famous Elle magazine. Young Bardot was quickly noticed for her rebellious charm and innocent facial expression, which opened the doors to the film industry.
At just 17 years old in 1952, she got her first role, Javotte, in the film Le trou normand.
In 1956, Brigitte became a star thanks to her role in the film And God Created Woman (Et dieu créa la femme). The film was an immediate success and became a hit in America as well.
