(Patria) - The BiH Presidency today adopted the Proposal for the Budget of BiH Institutions and International Obligations of BiH for 2023, but with two votes FOR and one against.
Member of the BiH Presidency Željko Komšić voted against the proposal for the 2023 Budget at today's session of the BiH Presidency – due to salary increases for politicians and because this year's budget did not allocate funds for the procurement of equipment for the Armed Forces of BiH, and also because the Fiscal Framework did not foresee the possibility of allocating these funds, which are necessary for the BiH Armed Forces.
The failure to allocate these funds jeopardizes the functioning of the Armed Forces of BiH in the coming period.
The other member of the Presidency, Denis Bećirović, as well as the Chairperson Željka Cvijanović, supported the Budget proposal.
The Budget Proposal increased the base for salary calculation, and although the goal was to increase salaries for police officers, soldiers, and employees in institutions, due to the new calculation, salaries for elected and appointed officials will also increase by up to 1000 KM, in addition to last year's increase.
Although there was a proposal to separate the calculation, i.e., to stop the salary increase for officials due to the increased coefficient, this did not happen.
