(Patria) - The European Central Bank (ECB) has decided to gradually withdraw 50 euro banknotes issued before 2017 from circulation to further enhance payment system security.
The new banknotes from the "Europe" series have advanced security features, including holograms and special inks, making them significantly more resistant to counterfeiting.
The goal of this measure is twofold: to protect citizens from fraud and to modernize banknotes that are in daily use.
The withdrawal applies only to 50 euro banknotes issued before 2017.
